The Keeper Society

Hum is inspired by my experiences as a beginner apiarist in central Virginia. Over the past few years I’ve learned a lot from some truly amazing beekeepers. These are just a few!

Scottsville Supply Co.

Scottsville Supply Co. is a small bee supply and gift store in central Virginia. I took my first beekeeping class here! The owners and staff are incredibly knowledgeable, not to mention ridiculously kind. Even if you don’t live in Virginia, you can purchase supplies for your own beekeeping adventure from their online store.

Central Virginia Beekeepers Association

The CVBA is a group of beekeepers of all backgrounds and skill levels. I’ve been a member for about a year and I learn something new at every meeting. They offer support to their fellow beekeepers and provide educational opportunities to the general public across central Virginia. Every year they host an educational booth at the Albemarle County Fair.

Detroit Hives

Detroit Hives is a non-profit organization that transforms vacant Detroit lots into urban bee farms. As an urban beekeeper myself, their work is incredibly inspiring. Consider donating to help raise bee awareness and funds for future bee farms.
